School Days

We’ve been in an extended time of adjustment around here as we took one son to college last month and then got the other three into their respective schools on the first of this month. My wife and I are a bit shell-shocked at having full days at home without children. This is the first time it’s been like this in a very long time.

As I don’t start any major rehearsal periods until next month, it’s been a great time to get on top of things around here. We’ve accomplished a great deal on the home front in addition to attending multiple church and school events. I don’t think we’d have it any other way.

I have been into NYC a few times to work on “Hoffmann”. I am very excited that this production unexpectedly came my way and I’m very anxious to start rehearsing. I’ll be spending time at Millikin University next month before beginning rehearsals at The Met as once again I’ll be serving as an “Artist in Residence”.

With having a great deal of time off these past few months, I’ve realized more than ever how much I truly enjoy the active time that rehearsals bring. I’ve missed performing but have enjoyed my time off with the family as well. I’m glad that it’s about time to get back at it full tilt---and it’s going to be a fun season, to be sure. I’m getting ready to begin a fairly long stint of work---bring it on!!!
