Catching up

It occurred to me tonight that I haven’t updated my blog in awhile. The past month has been hectic in many ways but relaxing as well. Upon returning home from St. Louis, I quickly got into the car and drove to Ohio to pick up our oldest son from college. I had about a week at home after that before flying back to Los Angeles for what was supposed to be about four weeks. As it turned out, I was only needed for one day at the time and so I buzzed back home and was able to spend quite a bit of time with my family. I didn’t have to return to L.A. until May 31 and now we’ve just finished up “Gotterdammerung” rehearsals and await reopening the show on Sunday evening. The entire Ring Cycle is being performed three times during these few weeks in L.A.--what a masterpiece.

It was great to be home at a time of year that I often miss. I was able to attend music concerts of our children and also celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary in person with my wife. So often, the celebrating has been done from afar. It is truly great to be married to your best friend.

The Ring Project here in L.A. has been getting a lot of press as of late--a lot of that press hasn’t been good. It is indeed a dangerous stage and a tough production. We do with it what we can. I’ve already discussed the production on this blog and so won’t be going further into it. But I’m glad rehearsals are behind us and am anxious to be back in front of an audience again this weekend.
